Or is anyone else creeped out by the "Country First" signs accompanied by full-throated chants of "U-S-A!  U-S-A!"?  All political rallies with chants and slogans, regardless of affiliation, border on the edge of creepiness simply because of they remind me (and others, I'm sure) of something out of Triumph of the Will.  Those "Country First" signs, though, with their implication of "My country, right or wrong," along with the jingoistic "U-S-A!" chant, make this year's RNC seem to come closer to a Nuremberg rally than any I've seen in a while.

Yes, those USA chants freak the fuck out of me.
The crowd was doing it at the 4th of July concert I was playing this year, while we were playing. It is scary, weird, and I don't even know what it's supposed to mean...USA exists?

I think the translation is "Love our country or we'll beat the crap out of you, commie-pinko-towelheaded-bastard!" or something like it.

It's what the crowd shouted over and over during the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980 when the USA Hockey Team defeated the mighty Russians and went on to miraculously win the Gold Medal.

In today's context, it's how the Republicans prove that they are REAL patriots and put COUNTRY FIRST. (which is why the cry also means "Death to Democrats - unpatriotic marxist socialist un-american commie lib traitors" )
