I've seen that one and I regularly check pollster.com and everyone is pointing to an Obama victory but I still feel sick about the election. My mother has felt the same way and thinks that it may have to do with us being Red Sox fans (which is quite possible). I'll be relieved when the whole thing is done with tomorrow (and I hope that Prop 8 fails).
Yeah, I mailed my ballot it last week but need to drop off my husband's at the polling place tomorrow. Other than that, I'm in "wake me on Wednesday" mode. Thank goodness I don't watch television.
I voted this morning. When I got to the polling place (Church of the Epiphany - no more voting at Darcey School) at 7:30 AM, the parking lot was full, and the line stretched down the sidewalk and around behind the church. I've voted in Cheshire in just about every federal, state and local election since 1972 and I have NEVER seen a line like that. In Hartford, there were 350 people in line at one of the polling places at 6 AM. All over the state, calls were coming in to WTIC this morning telling about the crowds who had turned out to vote. Even though Connecticut is pretty much "in the tank" for Obama, it's incredible and wonderful to see so many people coming out to vote here. Even though my inner Red Sox Fan is fighting to get out, I am becoming more and more hopeful that well see a victorious Obama/Biden ticket this evening.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Prop 8 in CA is defeated. Here in CT, we have a question on our ballot that asks if we should convene a Constitutional Convention to consider amendments to our Constitution. (This question has to come up every 20 years by law). The anti-gay crowd is pushing hard for a "yes" vote so they can try to get a citizen's initiative clause in our state constitution with the ultimate goal of overturning gay marriage and banning abortions here in CT.
Haddayr went right after the polls opened here (at 7) and didn't come back until over an hour later. I've been out grocery shopping with Éiden and everywhere I look I see people with stickers showing they voted. It does make me feel kind of hopeful.
I hope Prop 8 is defeated as well -- I can't imagine what it would be like to have gotten married and then have that marriage taken away by the government. That's truly horrifying.
