Date: 2008-11-04 05:11 am (UTC)Anyway...
The last time I voted for a presidential winner ('92), it only took 100 days before I realized it was a mistake. Don't Ask; Don't Tell. Caving on taxing the wealthy like Clinton promised. Then, 4 years later, torpedoing welfare. We thought we were getting a Trojan Horse housing a progressive, but out popped a goddamn Eisenhower Republican.
So. I'm voting for a Dem presidential candidate for the first time in 16 years, and I guess I feel ok. Not great. Not too anxious. Just confident that Americans will make McCain pay for Bush's sins.
As for Obama, I'll give him a shot because he sings the music I like to hear, better than anyone I've heard in my lifetime. But...
Let's talk in 4 years.

Date: 2008-11-04 02:52 pm (UTC)I am worried about McCain stealing the election but I'm also worried that racism and fear will make people vote against Obama (along with a healthy dose of stupidity) and I always worry that the polls are somehow wrong.

Date: 2008-11-04 06:36 pm (UTC)I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Prop 8 in CA is defeated. Here in CT, we have a question on our ballot that asks if we should convene a Constitutional Convention to consider amendments to our Constitution. (This question has to come up every 20 years by law). The anti-gay crowd is pushing hard for a "yes" vote so they can try to get a citizen's initiative clause in our state constitution with the ultimate goal of overturning gay marriage and banning abortions here in CT.

Date: 2008-11-04 06:56 pm (UTC)I hope Prop 8 is defeated as well -- I can't imagine what it would be like to have gotten married and then have that marriage taken away by the government. That's truly horrifying.
