Arie's party

After posting earlier in the week about how worried I was that only two kids  were coming to Arie's party, we have now heard from all but one family and all said they were coming tomorrow.  I'm so relieved.

I've had a migraine nearly every day for the last week and a half (sometimes two a day).  Today I thought I was finally out of the woods but Arie (who has the day off today) and  Éiden have been jumping and running throughout  the house almost non-stop and each jump has felt like I'm being slapped upside the head with a large bag of wet sand.  Never a good sign, and a pretty good indication that I've got a new migraine brewing.

haddayr sent me this short article written by a 48 year old  about how she was recently diagnosed  with Asperger's Disorder.  Having a son and a friend both diagnosed with Asperger's and having certain Aspie tendencies of my own, I was really struck and delighted by the last paragraph of her article:

I could tell you so much more, but instead let me share one last insight. Don't pity me or try to cure or change me. If you could live in my head for just one day, you might weep at how much beauty I perceive in the world with my exquisite senses. I would not trade one small bit of that beauty, as overwhelming and powerful as it can be, for "normalcy."

I sometimes wonder what the hell my kids hear coming out of my mouth.  I think I'm speaking English but all I get are blank looks.
