This is the third time this morning

I've unsuccessfully tried to clean the scroll ball on our mighty mouse.  It is also the sixth or seventh time I've had to clean it in the last week.  If I don't clean it, the ball scrolls up, left and right, but not down.  This is a common problem with Apple's mighty mouse which indicates it's more than likely a design flaw.  Of course, it might also help IF SOMEONE WOULD STOP EATING POPCORN WHEN SHE USES THE COMPUTER.

scrolly ball

Hiyas! Are you using some high-tech way of cleaning your scroll ball? My Mighty Mouse gets wonky now and then, and I just flip it over and roll the scroll ball in circles on my mouse pad (or pant leg even!) and that usually fixes it right up. :-) -Joy

Usually that works for me but with the introduction of butter and popcorn oil I had to get a little more hardcore (though I didn't go the route of taking it apart which others have done). I tried compressed air in case there was dust and then, when that wasn't successful I used a q-tip with rubbing alcohol (which did the trick).

Butter and popcorn oil... yeah... i guess that _would_ be a problem... a delicious, and totally worth it problem.... ;-) glad it all got worked out!
