Nov. 4th, 2008 02:32 pmOur polling station is just a block away in the Powderhorn Park building so after I voted I sat on a bench outside and while Éiden climbed on the equipment. I watched as people steadily filed in and out of the building. It was kind of remarkable to see the number of people going to vote in the middle of the day and to see not just the number but the diversity of voters. I sat under a warm fall sun under red and yellow leaves and watched Éiden play.
Here at home, each time I look out the window, I see more people walking to or from the polling station.
I know that Minnesota is a pretty blue state, but I've also been looking at photos of the long lines in other states and I have to say that seeing all of these people voting actually makes me feel hopeful about our country.

Date: 2008-11-05 12:35 am (UTC)In 2004, roughly 3.5 million people voted in the state of Georgia.
This year, Georgia has implemented Early Voting. As of yesterday (ie. before the official polls even opened this morning), over 2 million people in Georgia had already voted.
I am so jazzed.
