We've gradually been taking Arie off of his Clonidine so that we can try a new medication with him. Because Clonidine is also a blood pressure med, we have to do it slowly, taking another step every two days. He gets three doses throughout the day. The first two days we dropped the noontime dose. He seemed a little more high energy and a little more ticcy than usual but it wasn't too bad. Today we've dropped the morning dose and there is a definite difference. Arie has been a bit more on edge, prone to laughing fits that just don't stop and more twitchy than previous. Oddly, the anger has been better, though I'm not sure why (the anger issues were one of the primary reasons we put him on Clonidine). Before we started weaning him off it, we wondered if the Clonidine was having any effect at all on him. Based on today, I'd say it has. I'm really not looking forward to when we drop the evening meds.
