I'm really not sure what to think of this

For the past few days, Éiden has been walking around the house saying, "I'm John McCain, and I approve this message."

Does he precede it with a fart or something otherwise suitable for McC's message? :)

Too funny!

That would be pretty appropriate, but he doesn't. He does say it in one of his goofy voices, though.

Dude, when Nixon won re-election in '72, I thought George Washington had been re-elected, and I was elated about it, all day.

I was horrified and thought the Devil Himself was going to take over my house and neighborhood.

I really thought maybe he was spying on me.

Oh yeah, we moved to Santa Cruz like a year or so later, and I ended up getting an ear and eyeful of Watergate, after that. That's the first time I remember wondering what the hell was wrong with my parents, in second grade.

I was 2 in 1972. But my family had ties to Nixon (my great-aunt is/was Rosemary Woods), and my dad liked to use him as a bogeyman.

Yeah, I remember the Rosemary Woods thing about you, which is always awesome.

I was five in 1972. I still feel like I should have known better.

I don't think he necessarily likes McCain (though his brother yells at him for it because he doesn't like McCain), I just think he finds it funny.

I, like Haddayr, was only two when Nixon won and can't remember a thing about him or politics at the time. I was sad in 76, though, when Ford lost to Carter because I thought Ford was funny whenever he fell down or stumbled and I wanted a funny president.

I was 6 when Eisenhower was running for President for the first time - and I kept telling everyone "I Like Ike"

Arie pays attention to what's going on with the election and asks lots of questions but I really have no idea what Éiden thinks of it. I think he just finds it kind of funny.

I remember you asking me about what was happening when you saw Nixon getting on the helicopter when he had resigned from office and was leaving for California.

[identity profile] janradder.livejournal.com 2008-09-29 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow -- I don't remember that at all.

Kind of like when he was stomping around last year chanting "Mat soo za Kah" "Oh Ka Jeee Ma" ?

A little bit.
