They did a five and a half minute story on her "Thanks but no thanks" fabrication, including an interview with the guy who coined the name "Bridge to Nowhere."

They also followed it up with a pretty funny story on putting lipstick on pigs.

This is a link to a band called Hooper Piccalero.  The trombonist is Matt Plummer who used to date my sister-in-law and who [livejournal.com profile] haddayr  still keeps in touch with.  The band was just reviewed on WFMU's Beware the Blog.  I don't know if this is the same band of Matt's that I'd heard before, but whether they are or not, they are awesome. They play really odd, free-wheeling jazz, the kind that would make Captain Beefheart jealous.  Their song, "What the Fuck" rivals anything the Butthole Surfers ever put out, and I mean that as the sincerest form of flattery.  At the very list, give that song a listen.  Good stuff -- you won't be disappointed.

She did not blink or hesitate to say yes when the McCain campaign asked her to be on their ticket.

Now there's a reason to vote for her.  And, as that comes from her interview with softball journalist Chuck Gibson, I'm expecting her interview was pretty substance free.

In case you didn't hear it, NPR has been doing a story from York, PA. They've gathered Blacks, Whites and Latinos together to discuss their experiences with race and then to talk about how those views on race are or aren't effecting their vote in this year's election. It's interesting and kind of depressing, especially when, after announcing who they'll vote for, the results break down along the color line fairly evenly (there's also one woman who is convinced that Obama is Muslim. She has some rather chilling words about Muslims and Obama).

Here's a link to the story. The audio is at the top of the page.
