Is it possible that Jimi Hendrix's Axis:  Bold as Love is the best guitar record ever recorded?  It has some of the most beautiful, sublime and soul stirring guitar work I have ever heard.  It's the kind that seems to well up inside your chest and roll down your arms to the very tips of your fingers, making your shoulders tingle and your body ache.  There are moments, like during "Bold as Love," that I just feel like crying at the sheer beauty.

Arie walks off the bus this afternoon.  His stoic little face betrays no emotion one way or the other as to what kind of day he might have had.  This is normal for him.  His face is almost always stoic, unless he is outraged or laughing, as is my own and as is my grandfather's.  Arie is holding a large pink ball in his arms while a baggie full of skittles hangs from his hands.

"Look what I got," he tells me, showing me the ball.

"I see.  It's a ball.  You must have had a good day."

Arie turns his back to me as he puts down the ball and the skittles and removes his backpack from his shoulders.

"I did not get to a one, a two or a three today," he turns to tell me, standing in the doorway to our house, his mouth just barely turned up at the corners so slightly that if you did not know him you would never even notice it while his eyes glow warm with pride.

"Oh, Arie, that's wonderful!" I tell him and give him a hug.

"Yes, it is," he replies seriously and hugs me back.

Just call me "Cruddy"

Éiden has an alter-ego which he has created for himself.  He is Super-gorilla which when he says it comes out sounding like "Super-grilla.'
Without warning, he will leap to his feet, stand with his legs spread apart and arms akimbo and declare, "This looks like a job . . . for Super-grilla!"  Then he'll begin making loud hissing and shooting noises as he pounds at some imaginary foe.

Over the weeks he has been Super-grilla he has further developed the character.  Suprer-grilla's secret identity is Grug, a baby gorilla.  Grug comes from a planet called Spaceplanet.  Yesterday Éiden introduced a part for me to play in the Super-grilla mythos.  I am Grug's daddy -- Cruddy.  I don't know if I should feel proud or offended.

I wrote 1500 words tonight which, although it wasn't a huge tally, more importantly brought me past the 100 page mark on my manuscript (over 34,000 words total).  That is by far the most I have ever written for one piece of work.  I'm kind of surprised and also thrilled since about a month ago I wasn't sure if I even had 50 pages in me and a month and a half ago I didn't even think I would write at all.  I'm pretty happy with myself tonight even though I have a ways to go before I'm done with this book.
