A Song I Wish I Heard On the Radio

Back in late 1984 or early 1985, there was a song called "Butthead" that WNHU in West Haven, CT used to play. Basically, it was just some guy ranting about jerks (if I remember right) and calling them buttheads over a pretty standard punk chord progression. It used to run through my head as I walked between classes. I haven't heard the song since, nor have I ever been able to track it down. It was by a band called Chainsaw who I imagine were an obscure little Connecticut band that had more than likely gone to Trod Nossel Studios (the recording studio that nearly every Connecticut band went to), cut a demo, and then paid for a small pressing of singles with their own money. Or maybe it was a bunch of kids who went to the University of New Haven (which owns WNHU) and they recorded this one song a tape, and only a few copies of it ever existed. I really have no idea. I just remember liking that song a ton back then. If I ever heard it on the radio again, I'd be ecstatic (and if anyone reading this post knows the song and how to get a hold of it, I'd sing your praises to the heavens if you passed the information along).

Yaargh. Sorry I don't have a lead for you, but I definitely empathize. There was a song on an old mix tape one of my brother's friends made called "Quarter Pounder, No Cheese". It went something like "I don't care about politics oh no/To me it's all a bunch of silly shit/I just want my brothers and sisters to be free/And sit down with me and eat a quarter pounder, no cheese/GO! QUARTER POUNDER! NO CHEESE!" et cetera.

They were straight outta the Philly/Jersey 'punk' scene (such that it was), but that's all I gots. Can't find the band's name, can't find an mp3.

Oddly, that song sounds familiar, like I've heard it, though I could be wrong. That's super frustrating that you don't have a band name to go on. With all the obscure punk bands that put out one poorly distributed single and then disappeared, I suspect there's lots of stores like these.

I've also got these three songs I love that someone put at the end of a tape after the Meat Puppets II. For years, I'd thought it was the Meat Puppets but I eventually found out it wasn't. I have no idea what the song titles are, or the band name, and I haven't talked to the kid who I got the tape from since sophomore year of college. I've googled song lyrics to see if I can find something, but so far it's produced zilch. I've got the tape, though, so at least I can listen to the songs still.

Ive been searching for that song since i heard it on my static-ridden boombox in the wee hours of the am. I think I was in 5th grade and it was on WSOU. I emailed them to ask about the song, if they had a record of it, and got no response.

Thank you for making me feel less alone :)
