Just last week, McCain launched an ad trying to show ties between Obama and the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae institutions. That's certainly fair game but the face he chose to highlight those ties was Franklin Raines, a person with some of the weakest connections to the Obama campaign. Raines also happens to be black. In the ad, as we hear ominous music and the narration of a white woman, we see images of black men looming over the mortgage crisis followed by the image of an elderly white woman who represents us, the taxpayers.

Later, a Bush insider advised the McCain camp to paint Obama as "uppity."

Now, today, McCain  launches another attack ad which features Franklin Raine's leering black face under the heading "STOP CEO RIP-OFFS" followed again by an elderly white woman representing the public which is in turn followed by Barack Obama's grinning black face.

Really, when is the mainstream media going to call out McCain for launching a new round of WIllie Horton salvos?

damn, can't we generate some of our own attack ads? Like "Do you really think a man who talked under torture should be president of the US?"

There was a 527 group that recently put out an ad with a former POW who was imprisoned with McCain calling McCain unfit to lead. I'm not sure if that's really all that necessary though when you've got arch-conservatives like George F. Will making that same accusation:

I love the expression on Obama's face in the last one. Uppity Angry Black Man face.

NICE!
