My list of things to do in the next few weeks (in no particular order):
1. Make and host Thanksgiving dinner.
2. Update my resumé that has not been updated since the last time I worked, eight years ago (well, actually write, because I don't even have that resumé from eight years ago anymore).
3. Find some sort of paying job so that weekly grocery bills don't put us in the poorhouse.
4. Get photos from people in the documentary so we can cut to them and make the movie more interesting to look at.
5. Figure out what of my memoir to send out and where to send it to.
6. Contact an online music mag to pitch an idea for a column.
7. Figure out where to send an essay and a story I wrote.
8. Finish the story I'm currently working on.
9. Make Christmas cookies with the boys so that they have fun Christmas experiences and so that we have something to give their teachers at school.
10. Buy and wrap gifts for the boys.
11. Buy, wrap, and mail gifts to family and friends so that they have something from us by the time Christmas comes around.
12. Start cooking my absurdly huge 12 course Christmas Eve dinner, which even though it will be less than 12 courses this year will still be absurdly huge and take lots of time to make.
13. Get a receipt from Éiden's old preschool so that we can get the money we set aside from
haddayr's paycheck for it back from the agency that holds the money, otherwise we lose it all.
14. Make sure I pay all the bills on time so we don't get hit with late fees.
15. Keep track of all the expenditures so that there's enough money in the account to pay the bills as well as buy groceries and things for Christmas.
16. Get a Christmas tree.
17. Get the decorations down from the attic and decorate the tree and the house.
18. Shovel whatever fucking snow falls.
19. Shrinkwrap the damn windows so that the heating bill doesn't get too high and so that the house is actually warm.
20. Make sure the kids are getting their homework done.
21. Fix dinner, do laundry and do housework while also making sure everything above is done.
22. Probably something else that I forgot to list.
If I ignore it, I don't ever have to actually do any of it. Of course, on the other hand, by ignoring it, I have that much less time left to get any of it done. Honestly, the idea of a two-month bender doesn't sound that bad right now.
