I'm really too lazy to change blogging formats, but I swear every other week LJ tries to come with some new incentive to overcome my inertia.

This doesn't happen for paid accounts. This is their way of bullying you into buying a paid account.

It doesn't happen with classic free accounts, either, which is what I have. It WILL happen to anyone who brings up the main LJ page without being logged in. If you go to this page http://www.livejournal.com/login.bml?ret=1
you won't get any ads.

or, if you are on the main page and hit refresh you skip the ads
