It's Éiden's birthday!

He wanted Supertiger on his cake. Having never seen Supertiger, this was the best I could do. Tomorrow is his birthday party and I get to try my hand at Godzilla breathing fire. We'll see how that goes.

So far, I think he's had a pretty good day, in spite of being scratched by the cat this morning. Tonight we're getting pizza, as per his request, we'll eat the Supertiger cake, and he gets to open presents (he doesn't know it yet but his grandma got him Godzilla and Mechagodzilla figures).

Though he likes Captain Marvel, he hasn't yet learned enough of the mythos to know that there's a talking tiger involved (he's only seen some early Whiz Comics and the 40's serial). When he does he'll probably feak out with joy. I was actually surprised that he hadn't asked for Supergorilla for which he's already begun to construct his own mythos: Éiden is Supergorilla who's secret identity is baby Grug; Grug's mother is Grah; I'm Grug's father -- Cruddy.

That's funny - I was obsessed with gorillas at that age, too, and the only items I've retained from my childhood are two stuffed gorillas I named Garg and Garg Jr. (Actually, I gave one of them to my son when he was little. I tried to give the other to my daughter, but she wasn't so into gorillas, so I've got it.)

I usually make a jello-cake for birthdays (yellow box cake with jello poured over the top -- sounds like it could be awful but it's quite delicious). Éiden would have none of that, though, and insisted on a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. Tomorrow, the cake for the party will be chocolate with chocolate frosting. He likes the monochromatic flavors.
