Just in time for the holidays

So the neighbor who physically attacked me about five years ago has decided that he's moving back in next door after a four year absence. Needless to say, I am not at all happy about this development.

Oh dear; do I know this story?

I'm not sure, it happened before I was on lj but Haddayr might have posted about it. He had a new driveway put in and had the workers dump a bunch of the old driveway into our yard (which was not the first, second, or third time he'd dumped crap there). When I asked him about it, he claimed ignorance and refused to do anything about it. I told him I wanted it gone, waited a week, and when he still hadn't done anything about it, I moved back to his driveway. He had a hissy fit, yelled at Haddayr, then me, then me again (throughout the day, each time he saw us outside). The last time, he grabbed me and tried to throw me to the ground. Unfortunately, there were no witnesses so the cops wouldn't do anything about it.

Tried to throw you to the ground?

Go on--

That was about it -- he grabbed me, tried to throw me to the ground but couldn't and instead ripped my shirt, then made like he was going to fight me by putting his fists up. I told him I wasn't going to fight him, quickly walked away, and then called the police (both the boys were inside the house at the time. Arie was three and Éiden was still a baby. Which makes me now realize that this was just four years ago, rather than five).

The cops told me just to avoid the guy (and that they couldn't press any charges against him because it was just the two of us and he claimed that absolutely nothing happen -- we were just having a friendly disagreement, according to him -- so it was my word against his). Since them I've tried to ignore him (even when he's been trying to talk to me), but now what he does is stare at me creepily whenever he sees me outside and then when I feel him staring and look to see who it is, I see him staring at me and smiling (but not at all in a friendly way). He's one of those guys that the first time you meet him, he gives off that "I'm insane" vibe. I'm really not looking forward to him being next door all the time again.

Jan neglects to mention that during this attempt to throw him to the ground, he tore Jan's shirt and bruised him.

It was partly my fault; when he showed up to yell at me I gave him a big ol' New York earful and humiliated him in front of his goon, so he took it out on Jan.

He is a piece of shit who I have been cursing for years every time I see him with the Irish curse "Imeacht gan teacht ort:" "May you leave without returning."

Apparently, Irish is not a secret and powerful fairy language as I've had no luck.

Is this the guy with the canoe?

damn. Maybe he won't stay long.

I wish, but his normal pattern is a few years at each of his two properties (I'm assuming that's about how long the people there can take him before it becomes too unpleasant for him as well as his neighbors and tenants).
