Lots of free agents out there right now. I wonder who the Sox will sign? They didn't pick up Jason Varitek's or Alex Rodriguez's options. Will be interesting to see where Johnny Damon ends up.
I think Johnny ends up back in NY -- he wants to go back there and they want him. I think Varitek triggers the $3 million option he has to stay with the team and after that he retires ($3 mill. is more than anyone else is going to pay him). As to Gonzalez, I have a feeling they'll re-sign him but for a cheaper short-term contract (I don't think they trust that Lowrie can fill the shortstop void). As to FAs, I have a feeling the Sox skip most of them and instead trade for Adrian Gonzalez from SD. I really don't know what's going to happen with Jason Bay, though. My gut feeling is the Sox let him walk because they don't want to give the money or the years, though I could be wrong.
