Why do I put off balancing the checkbook for so long?  It's never pleasant but procrastinating only makes it that much more hellish of an experience.

I do the same thing with the mail. It piles up and piles up (and the cat sleeps on it). Then it turns out I have like three days to pay my bills.

I'm embarrassed to say that while I've been keeping up with the bills I am four months behind on reconciling my bank statements and three months behind in balancing the damn checkbook. I've really outdone myself this time.

That's just crazy. Reconciling the bank statement and balancing the checkbook are the best parts of paying the bills!! Lots of check marks and busywork!

If you pay all your bills at home, maybe you should enter your check info in an excel spreadsheet instead of a checkbook. Then you could have a column for whether it cleared the bank, and add them up nice and fast!

I don't prefer either it's just that saying any part of paying the bills is the best part, to me, is sort of like picking the best part of a root canal.
