[livejournal.com profile] haddayr and I dropped him off in his classroom. He was a little nervous at first but then warmed up to the tub of blocks at him table and quickly began building a tower like the other kids were doing.

We said goodbye and left, watching him confidently build, and Haddayr started to cry. I didn't, and I thought I was fine. Until I went grocery shopping shortly after and watched all the moms pushing their carts through the aisles with their preschoolers, and I suddenly and fiercely missed my little shopping partner and all our silly jokes as I fully realized that a special part of our lives is over.

*HUGS* I'm already dreading that moment for MrD, even as I look forward to it. Parenthood: such a weird mix of impatience and nostalgia...

Little shopping partner!

I was surprised at how much I missed our Saturday morning routine this summer (gymnastics, groceries, bookstore or other errands). At first I liked the flexibility but now I kind of want to blow off work to take V. to Trader Joe's and just wander around aimlessly for a while.

Oh, hugs to both of you!!! We are always losing our children, as they get changed out while we sleep for bigger kids and then finally grown people. How can they take our hearts and then leave us like that?

It sounds like Kaelin's first day of daycare... to a tear.
