Today is Éiden's first day of kindergarten

haddayr and I dropped him off in his classroom. He was a little nervous at first but then warmed up to the tub of blocks at him table and quickly began building a tower like the other kids were doing.

We said goodbye and left, watching him confidently build, and Haddayr started to cry. I didn't, and I thought I was fine. Until I went grocery shopping shortly after and watched all the moms pushing their carts through the aisles with their preschoolers, and I suddenly and fiercely missed my little shopping partner and all our silly jokes as I fully realized that a special part of our lives is over.
