The unmeasurable quality of time

This morning, I didn't put my watch on and each time I've checked the clock to see what time it was, I've only thought that twenty minutes or so has gone by when it has, in fact, been hours. The one exception was when I took a nap on the couch. When I woke up, I thought for sure it had been an hour, if not more. Instead, when I looked at the clock, only twenty minutes had passed since I'd closed my eyes.
