NPR story on race in America and in this election

In case you didn't hear it, NPR has been doing a story from York, PA. They've gathered Blacks, Whites and Latinos together to discuss their experiences with race and then to talk about how those views on race are or aren't effecting their vote in this year's election. It's interesting and kind of depressing, especially when, after announcing who they'll vote for, the results break down along the color line fairly evenly (there's also one woman who is convinced that Obama is Muslim. She has some rather chilling words about Muslims and Obama).

The woman who thinks Obama might be Muslim seems to think that Islam is like the mafia. That is pretty chilling.

There have definitely been times I've driven through PA when I've wondered how the South got up into a state I'd thought was firmly planted north of the Mason-Dixon line.
