What's even scarier is that oil production is past its peak. We really are starting to run out of it and I don't see a whole lot being done to find alternative fuel sources (with the exception of using food as fuel which has led to worldwide hunger). My father, who follows energy issues because he used to work in the field, was telling me to expect natural gas prices to triple this winter.
I paid $4.55 a gallon at the BP at the corner of 68 and 70 the other day. That was exceptionally high though - today regular gas at the station next to where I work is $4.39.
Tuesday morning I paid $4.10 on the NY Thruway coming back from Schenectday.
And, to make things even more wonderful, Nikki had oil delivered the other day and paid $4.79/gallon for it.
Yes, and Monday morning on the way to work it was $3.89. Although my tank was on empty, I decided I wanted to be (almost) on time to work and get gas on my lunch hour. At which time it was $4.09.

It's going to be a LONG and COLD winter I think.
